Lancaster tour and Bomber Command virtual Reality
This tour is a must for any aviation enthusiast, taking a once in a lifetime opportunity to view firsthand the trials and tribulations of being on a Lancaster aircraft in WWII.
Featuring a personalised tour of the inside and outside of the restored Lancaster bomber, you’ll find out what it is like to crawl over the two wing spars, touch the navigator’s desk inside the aircraft and sit in the wireless operator’s seat in this unique aircraft.
Based on the real-life sound recording of a Lancaster Bomber crew, you will experience the Bomber Command virtual reality that takes you on a night-time bombing mission inside a Lancaster Bomber from an airfield in Lincolnshire to the heart of Europe.
Witness first-hand the visual and audio experience from the relative calm of leaving England to the noise and intensity of a bombing run through flak, searchlights, and machine-gun fire from closing German fighters.
Please allow approximately 2 hours for the Lancaster tour and the Bomber Command virtual reality.
Our tours and experiences operate on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Tour and experience are operated by our volunteers and days of operation are subject to change. Please contact the Aviation Heritage Museum to arrange a booking.
