Aviation Tours & Experiences at Perth's Aviation Heritage Museum
Set in Bull Creek, the Aviation Heritage Museum is home to some of the most unique experiences in Perth. Few places let you stand beneath a four-engine heavy bomber or get close enough to take in the detail on aircraft that shaped Australia’s wartime and civil aviation history. From guided aircraft tours to immersive virtual reality missions, every experience here puts you closer to the machines and the people who flew them.
The museum’s collection of more than 30 aircraft was gifted to the people of Western Australia and is cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers. It includes restored icons such as the Avro Lancaster and the Douglas Dakota, each preserved so visitors can appreciate the engineering, the scale and the stories behind them.
Guided Aircraft Tours
The Aviation Heritage Museum’s guided aircraft tours offer a rare chance to get up close to some of Australia’s most significant historic aircraft, an experience you won’t find anywhere else in Perth. Knowledgeable volunteer guides walk you through how each aircraft was built and flown, and share the stories of the crews whose courage defined their era.
On a guided tour you can see standout aircraft in the collection up close, including the Lancaster bomber and the Dakota C47. It is a far richer way to understand these machines than reading a plaque, and a genuine custom aircraft experience in Perth for anyone serious about aviation history.
Virtual Reality Experiences
Our virtual reality experiences let you feel what aircrew once faced, placing you inside the action with a level of immersion that static displays cannot match. There are two to choose from. The Bomber Command Virtual Reality experience ($35, 30 minutes) puts you in the heart of a wartime bombing mission, while the MB-326H Macchi Virtual Reality experience ($80, 1 hour) takes you into the cockpit of a jet fighter.
Both VR experiences must be pre-booked. Due to the headsets and the nature of the content, we recommend Bomber Command for ages 10 and above (or at the parent or guardian’s discretion) and the Macchi for ages 14 and above. Please speak to our museum volunteers if you have any concerns.

A few things worth knowing before you book:
- Tours operate during museum hours and are run by volunteers. During summer, tours run in the mornings only due to heat. Please contact the museum to book before your visit.
- Tour times are approximate and can vary depending on group size and questions.
- Museum admission is included with every tour.
