At 0600 hours on 29 September 1941 Blenheim Z6645 took off to carry out a routine patrol in the Eastern Mediterranean. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it did not return to base. The body of one crew members was recovered and it was recorded in 1948 that the two missing crew members had lost their lives at sea.
