Ventura AE742 took off from Methwold at 1647 hours to bomb la Pleine airfield, Brittany. At 1755 hours, anti-aircraft fire hit the port engine and the aircraft ditched at 1805 hours between Guernsey and the French Coast. The three survivors were taken prisoner in occupied Guernsey.
