At 2348 hours on the night of 18 August 1941Wellington N2844 took off from Marham detailed to bomb Duisberg, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at 0206 hours on 19August 1941 in the Ljsselmeer. All the crew members were killed.
