On 29 December 1941, Leading Aircraftman White, a Tailor, was a member of a Vickers Machine gun crew proceeding to his post on a drop side tender during an air raid alarm practice at Bankstown aerodrome. When the tender was turning a comer, Leading Aircraftman White lost his balance and was thrown to the ground. He died at Australian General Hospital, Concord, on 1 January 1942.
