About 1100 hours on 29 November 1944, Leading Aircraftman Wentworth, an Armourer Assistant, crashed a stolen jeep with two others, all believed to be under the influence of liquor. The jeep overturned and Leading Aircraftman Wentworth was killed, with the other two – Sergeant John Leslie Keith Andrews (421003) (Discharged: 11 July 1946) and Leading Aircraftman David Wilson (53736) (Discharged: 30 November 1945) – injured.
