On a solo night flying exercise on 2 March 1943, at about 0300 hours Oxford V3335 crashed at Wilson Park Farm, near Ramsbury aerodrome, Wiltshire, killing Sergeant Webster. The aircraft hit a tree in a position at about the commencement of the down-wind leg. A sudden and unforseen deterioration of the weather may have been a contributory factor, causing loss of control by the pilot.
