Lancaster LL801 took off from Mildenhall at 2144 hours to attack Friedrichshafen. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at Schoenau, some 16 km west north west of Selestat. Four crew members were killed, two taken prisoner and one evaded capture.
