On 16 June 1918, Second Lieutenant Turner was killed in the crash of Sopwith Scout aircraft C271 at Marske by the Sea, Yorkshire. The aircraft stalled during a turn and went into a spinning nose-dive, crashed and caught fire. The Court of Enquiry was unable to determine the cause of the accident.
