On 3 November 1916, Lieutenant Turk was killed and Lieutenant John Allan RFC (from Canada) was fatally injured in an aircraft accident when FE2b aircraft 7700 dived into the ground.  In an experiment while airborne, the crew of the aircraft attempted to collect a message from between poles when a wire became caught in the aircraft’s propeller, causing the aircraft to crash.  Lieutenant Allan died from his injuries the following day.
