At 2213 hours on 28 June 1944, Halifax LM717 took off from Melbourne to attack rail facilities at Blainville, France. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter, crashing at Oise 5 km north east of Crepy-en-Valoi . All seven crew members were killed.
