Brother of Flight Sergeant Eric Claude Thompson (415909)

Lancaster ND825 took off from RAF Kirmington at 2125 hours on the night of 27/28th April 1944, detailed to bomb Friedrichshafen, Germany. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter and crashed at Grangesd-sur-Volognes, (Vosges) at the north west end of the Valles des Granges, 8 kms south east of Bruyeres and all the crew were killed.
