Captain Stutt previously worked in the NSW State aviation School before joining the post-war Australian Air Corps. He is not listed on the Embarkation Rolls.
Captain Stutt and Sergeant Abner Gilchrist Dalzell were lost without trace on 23 September 1920 in a DH9A aircraft that was last reported in the vicinity of Vansittart Island in the Bass Strait.
