At 0004 hours on the morning of 1 June 1944 Lancaster LL936 took off from Witchford detailed to bomb railway yards at Trappes, France. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft crashed at Chandelles (Eure-Ety-Loire) and all the crew members were killed.
