During take-off for a night air raid defence on 20 October 1917, FE2b aircraft A5656, flown by Second Lieutenant Solomon and Second Lieutenant Harold Preston RFC, crashed and caught fire.  Second Lieutenant Solomon was killed and Second Lieutenant Preston was injured.
