On 14 April 1944, Flight Sergeant Skehan, a Clerk Stores, was killed when he was run over by a 4.5 ton truck and tender in Anne Street, Brisbane. He had hailed the driver for a “lift” and the truck appeared to slow down and in endeavouring to jump on the running board of the cabin, he slipped and fell under the wheels.
