On 19 March 1944, Leading Aircraftman Size a General Hand, died of gunshot wounds received when a rifle being cleaned by another airman accidentally fired. At the time Leading Aircraftman Size was working at a No. 10 Works Supply Unit Detachment at a sawmill in Lae.
