On 11 June 1945, Beaufighter A8-42 was detailed to provide close air support to ground troops and crashed at 1100 hours, half a mile from the southern end of Sanga strip at Tawa Tawa Borneo. The aircraft crashed from a low altitude into the sea. The crash was due to the momentary loss of a motor on take-off, and insufficient height to control the engine on the starboard engine. The Pilot was killed and the Navigator was slightly injured.
