Flying Officer Sadler was an Australian Cadet trained for the RAF who embarked for the UK on 20 July 1937.
Hampden L4121 took off from Hemswell at 0640 hours to attack Heligoland. The aircraft was intercepted and shot down into the sea at 1000 hours between the German islands of Heligoland and Wangerooge.
