Flying Officer Ross was an Australian Cadet trained for the RAF who embarked for the UK on 17 July 1937.

On 13 August 1940, Hampden P4410 took off from Scampton to bomb the Dortmund-Ems Canal.
The aircraft was lost without trace with its four crew members.
