On 7 May 1943 Halifax BB256 took off from RAF Station St Eval, Cornwall, on an anti-submarine patrol. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and it did not return to base. In 1949 it was recorded that the missing crew members had lost their lives at sea.
