On 14 June 1944, Pilot Officer Rix, a Fitter Driver Motor Transport selected for officer training at the School of Administration, was admitted to No. 6 RAAF Hospital, Heidelberg, seriously ill with Haemoptysis. He was later transferred to No. 2 RAAF Hospital, and was removed from the seriously ill list on the 11 July. He was discharged from the RAAF on the 26 February 1945 and he died on 14 March 1946.
