Brother of Flying Officer Colin Arthur Rimmington (400821)

Lancaster LM682 took off from Elsham Wolds at 2140 hours on the night of 13 February 1945 detailed to bomb Dresden, Germany on operation Thunderclap. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take-off and it failed to return to base. The aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed at Winterkasten, 12 kms south east of Darmstadt, Germany, and all the crew members were killed.
