On 8 March 1945, Kittyhawk A29-618 flown by Pilot Officer Reynolds was one of a formation of four aircraft detailed to strafe targets in the Soebaim Village in the Gioeroes area on the Halmahera Island, Dutch East Indies. A29-618 struck some trees and the aircraft crashed and burned. In 1947 the wreck of the aircraft was found.
