On 8 March 1941, Corporal Rentell, a Fitter II Engines, died from injuries received in a motor car collision at the intersection of Ascot Vale Road and Queens Avenue, Ascot Vale. The car in which he was travelling was driven by Pilot Officer (later Squadron Leader) Alan Joseph Cassel Jenkins (O3322) (Discharged: 25 August 1952) who was injured.
