On 21 February 1945, Mustang KH617 flown by Warrant Officer was one off our aircraft detailed to bomb a rail bridge east of Casarza in Northern Italy. The target was very heavily defended and pilots flying behind KH617 reported that after entering its bomb dive, the aircraft was seen to go out of control and crash in the ground close to the target. KH617 was apparently hit by anti-aircraft fire and Warrant Officer Rennison was killed.
