Having died outside the specified period (3 September 1939 to 30 June 1947), Aircraftman Rae does not meet an eligibility criterion for inclusion on the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour for World War II.
On 30 March 1944, Aircraftman Rae was discharged on medical grounds as “being unfit for further service”. His subsequent death has been attributed to war service.
