During a test flight on 2 May 1944, at 1348 hours Boomerang A46-72 crashed 8 kms west south west of No. 1 airstrip at Nadzab. A46-72’s pilot, Flying Officer Perry, baled out but his parachute did not fully deploy and he was killed.
