While taking off at 0810 hours on 29 October 1942 from Takali aerodrome on an operational patrol, Spitfire EP329 flown by Flight Sergeant Parks crashed into an obstruction on the aerodrome. Flight Sergeant Parks was injured in the crash and died of his injuries at 0900 hours on the same day.
