On 12 October 1941, Sergeant Parker was flying in one of twelve No. 3 Squadron Tomahawk aircraft on a protective patrol over the battle front. In a general dogfight with Bf109 aircraft, his aircraft was set on fire and he was forced to bale out. During descent, it was believed that Sergeant Parker was fired on and he was probably killed.
