While on duty on 20 April 1943, at 1100 hours Sergeant Palmer, a Fitter Electrician, suffered second degree bums to his body and arms as a result of a petrol fire. The accident occurred at El Hamma and Sergeant Palmer died of his injuries on 21 April 1943.
