On the 28 February 1944, Spitfire ES336 flown by Flight Sergeant O’Brien and Spitfire JL242 flown by Flight Sergeant Anthony Herbert Moss (421368) collided in mid-air and crashed 10 miles south east of Abu Sueir aerodrome and both Pilots were killed.
