Sergeant Moss had served at Central Flying School, Point Cook VIC, for 3.5 years and was a member of a special draft for the Australian Flying Corps proceeding to the UK when he was taken ill.  He had embarked on HMAT Boonah at Adelaide on 22 October 1918 and was removed from the ship at Fremantle and died at the Woodman Point Quarantine Station on 19 December 1918.
