On 28 June 1942, Flight Sergeant Morrison in Kittyhawk A29-134 was carrying out familiarisation flying. There was low scattered cloud with a base about 2,500 feet. The aircraft was heard but not seen because of the cloud, but at about 0130 hours, the noise appeared to indicate that the aircraft was out of control. It dived through the clouds and crashed on the western side of the Kingaroy aerodrome, bursting into flames and killing Flight Sergeant Morrison.
