On 6 August 1945, Flight Lieutenant Morris, a Navigator Bomb Aimer, was a member of a B24 Liberator crew (Flight Lieutenant Leonard William Gairns (401432) (Captain) Discharged: 8 January 1946) that travelled from Australia to the USA. They arrived at Fairfield on the 8 August. On the afternoon of 9 August Flight Lieutenant Morris complained of being sick during the journey and that he still felt far from well. He was advised by the RAAF Movements at San Francisco to report to the Letterman General Hospital. He reported to the Hospital on 10 August and was admitted where he died on 12 August.
