At 1742 hours on the night of 7 November 1941Stirling N6091 took off from Oakington to bomb Berlin. The aircraft failed to return to base. Post war it was established that the aircraft was shot down by anti-aircraft fire and crashed at Hekelingen and Spijkenisse (Zuid Holland), 14 kms south west of Rotterdam. All the crew members had been killed.
