On 12 December 1945, Flight Lieutenant McKenzie, Observer, died from injuries in a motor accident near Findlay, New South Wales. The accident occurred when a jeep in which he was travelling overturned late at night while avoiding an unlighted vehicle parked on the roadway. The RAAF members involved in the accident were:
