On 6 August 1943, Leading Aircraftman McCann, a Flight Rigger, and Leading Aircraftman William Ronald McKay (120605), a Flight Mechanic, were killed when a utility was returning to Deniliquin from a forced landing rescue, overturned at Echuca, Victoria. Others in the utility were injured.
