On 10 March 1942 Hurricane Z2819 flown by Pilot Officer Mayall was scrambled to intercept enemy aircraft. Z2819 was shot down and crashed near the Elementary School, Attard, at about 1050 hours. Pilot Officer Mayall was killed the aircraft was burned out and a total loss.
