On 21 July1942, Blenheim Z5723 was detailed to carry out a night navigation exercise. The aircraft crashed at Bridlington, Yorkshire and all the crew members were killed. A Court of Inquiry into the accident stated that: “in our opinion the accident occurred as a result of a flat spin on a dark night from a fairly low altitude, but the cause cannot be ascertained.”
