On 13 November 1942, a Hurricane aircraft flown by Sergeant Marshall caught fire in flight, and although Marshall successfully baled out, his parachute failed to open properly and he was killed. Technical examination of the wreck failed to reveal the cause of the accident.
Sergeant Marshall previously served in the UK with No. 234 Squadron (RAF).
