At 2023 hours on the 29 December 1942, Harvard EX101 flown by Flying Officer Madden crashed four miles south of Summit, and he was killed. EX101 collided in midair with Harvard AR143 whose pilot, Flight Lieutenant William McKenzie Read (85214) (RAFVR) was also killed.
