On 8 April 1945, Flight Sergeant Luff, a Flight Engineer, was admitted to Mackay District Hospital, dangerously ill with pneumonia. On the 15 September 1945 he died of tuberculosis at Rosemount Repatriation Hospital, Brisbane.
