On 28 June 1944 Leading Aircraftman Lee and Leading Aircraftman Roy Walton Bushell (25172) received petrol burns from an accident on the tarmac at Gorrie. Leading Aircraftman Lee succumbed to his injuries at No. 129 Australian General Hospital (Darwin) on 13 August 1944 and Leading Aircraftman Bushell was discharged from the RAAF on 17 May 1945
