At 1225 hours on 5 August 1942, Beaufighter A19-121 left Benalla for RAAF Station Laverton but failed to arrive at its destination. On 7 August 1942 the wreck of the aircraft was found on the northern slopes of Mt Disappointment and both the crew members had been killed.
