At about 1910 hours on 19 July 1944, Corporal Lamb, a Fitter II Airframe, was riding his motorcycle along Bourbong Street, Bundaberg. A pedestrian, Sister Moyra Tibby, was seen to step from the footpath on to the roadway, and the motorcycle struck her sideways and the cycle skidded to a stand still. Both were taken to the Bundaberg General Hospital. Corporal Lamb was admitted, and Sister Tibby treated and then taken to her quarters. Lamb was unconscious when admitted and died later that evening from a compound fracture of the skull caused by a blow to the back of the head against the hard flat surface of the road.
