On 21 May 1945, Corporal Kruse, an Equipment Assistant, was diagnosed seriously ill with pleurisy. On the 6 June 1945, he was assessed dangerously ill with carcinoma of the lung and admitted to No. 6 RAAF Hospital where he died on 19 June.
