During a flash reconnaissance patrol on 14 August 1917, Second Lieutenant Kebblewhite (Observer) and Second Lieutenant John Everatt Goodman RFC (Pilot), flying RE8 aircraft A3838, were shot down in aerial combat and both crew members were killed.
