Halifax MZ701 took off from RAF Full Sutton at 0207 hours on the night of 8th June 1944 detailed to carry out a night flying training exercise. Almost immediately MZ 701 crashed due to engine failure and loss of control. All the crew members were killed.

W R Chorley records that at 18, Flight Sergeant Jordan is one of the youngest Australians to be killed on Bomber Command duties.
